Christmas is not celebrated worldwide


Christmas is celebrated in almost all over the world. Despite being a Catholic party, also celebrate the birthday of Jesus countries with other religions. And even in areas where Christmas has no religious significance, is beginning to be party, thanks to the globalization of the Christmas traditions.

Here, then, are some exceptions:

Israel-Jews do not celebrate Christmas. This time of year, Jews remember the victories against oppression, discrimination and religious persecution. So, for them, December is also a month of celebration.

On Christmas Eve, from 24 to 25 December, while Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Jews celebrate Hanukah, which in Hebrew, their language, means "festival of lights". The Durga Puja is the feast of divine energy. But the Ganesh festival is celebrated in the states of South India, with joyful dances and songs. Diwali is the "festival of lights" that in every home, in every temple are placed thousands and thousands of lights, lit all night. The significance of these parties is to worship the Divine Energy. There are also similar parties with Christmas, such as Rama and Krishna Janmashtami Navami. Rama Navami is the celebration of the birth of Rama. Krishna Janmashtami is the birthday of Krishna.


China - Buddhism is the most popular religion in this country. Although Buddhists do not celebrate Christmas in China making Christmas decorations with many lights and holiday music.

The date most celebrated in China is the Chinese New Year. The calendar, different from ours, provides that the next Chinese New Year is on February 7th.

Taoism is the other major Chinese religion. Do not celebrate Christmas. But have numerous dates to celebrate the birth of their great masters. The Chinese New Year, as in Buddhism, is the date most celebrated for Taoists.
